Tour 1:  March 14– March 20 - 6 days in Southern Germany

Stuttgart, the “New Heart of Europe”
Highlights: Cities for Mobility global network, Stuttgart 21- 100 hectare (250 acre) core city redevelopment and new rail line, cutting edge Climate Atlas tool to reduce regional climate change impacts.
Freiburg, Black Forest “capital” 
Highlights: Seminar on famed “Green City” policies and practices; day-long tour of inner suburban, car-free “eco-quarters”; creative development approaches and design guidelines.
Frankfurt am Main, international financial centre
Highlights: New “green” European Central Bank, international Climate Alliance’s greenhouse gas reduction work with cities, city planning and environmental policies.
During the week there will be 4 ½ hours of intercity train travel.

Tour 2:  March 22-March 27 – 5 days in Switzerland, Germany, France

Zurich, Switzerland’s cultural capital
Highlights: City’s tough energy efficiency building standards, industrial area conversions to new districts, landscape architecture excellence, proposed mixed-use redevelopment of  redundant industrial land close to the main rail station.
Freiburg, old German university town 
Highlights:  Seminar on famed “Green City” policies and practices; day-long tour of inner suburban, car free “eco-quarters”; creative development and design approaches.
Mulhouse/Basel Region, French/Swiss cross-border region 
Highlights: Landmark architecture, mobility including parks with underground parking; dual street and rail line tram; bike/walk waterfront access, emerging eco-quarters

Tour 3: April 11-April 17 – 6 days in Belgium and France

Brussels, home of international politics.
Highlights:  Office and industrial conversions for carbon reduction, community involvement in urban development, tour of sustainable developments, transit-oriented development, Renewable Energy House.  Includes half day trip to nearby Ghent.
Lille, France’s fourth largest metropolitan area
Highlights: New quarter around high speed rail line, famous art deco museum housed in a former indoor swimming pool.  Travel from Lille to Paris will be by high speed, 300 kph (200 mph), rail.
Paris, French capital
Highlights: New master-planned district, green social/public housing, Paris Climate Change Plan, bicycle travel, vibrant redevelopment driven by stunning new green space and tramway construction
During the week there will be 1¾ hours of intercity train travel.

Tour 4: April 18-April 24 – 6 days in France

Angers, Loire Valley city
Highlights: More than a decade of progress on comprehensive sustainability, new tram line to drive future "eco quarter" and sustainable economic growth, dedicated “green loop” for cyclists, pedestrians and skaters. Note that the tour begins with a train trip from Paris to Angers.
Nantes, “Venice of the West”. 
Highlights: Integrated master planned redevelopment with housing, public spaces, transit, mixed use economic activity; culture as core of city economy.   Includes half day trip to nearby St. Nazaire where a submarine base is being transformed into new city hub.  Travel from Nantes to Paris will be by high speed, 300 kph (200 mph), rail.
